Stifel Nicolaus has recently introduced its Logistics Confidence Index - with the assistance of Transport Intelligence. The index is based on a global survey and measures the confidence of air and ocean freight forwarders for key European trade lanes.
For the month of March, the air freight forwarding index measured 42.2, below the 50 mark. However, over the next 6 months, conditions are expected to improve. The least confident was that on the Europe-Asia lane and the most upbeat was along the Europe-US lane.
The ocean freight forwarding index measured 43.8. Again, many surveyed expected conditions to improve over the next six months. The most confident was that lane between Asia-Europe which also anticipates higher volumes over the next six months.
